Trip Through A WormHole: Tampa Vulcan Con
Welcome back locals!
As most of you know I cover many Florida conventions through the year.
This was my very first year to hit a Vulcan convention, and gladly so, as this was a special year.
After a long hiatus this was the convention’s first year back and they came with the vengeance and strength of a hurricane! I had a chance to speak to patrons of the show as well as the guests that were there. All were very impressed with the set up and the overall smooth transaction of the show…
I must admit I was as well.
Going to these kind of shows you have to expect extreme fanatics and that’s just what I found. These fans are a special kind of people. By that I mean home made suits… mind blowing costumes to be exact! But to my surprise not just Star Trek, no sir, we had Star Wars, Back to the Future, and even some never before seen fan created characters! Walking into this convention was like walking into Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars… many different creatures of all shapes and sizes each speaking their own language. This was a experience I will not soon forget!
As exciting as the patrons were the guests were that much more impressive.
The V.I.P. List included Christopher Lloyd, Michael Shanks, Tony Todd, Dean Stockwell.
Another great opportunity, besides meeting the celebrities of course, is to get your picture sitting in a functional DeLorean Time Machine provided by Terry and Oliver Holler of To The Future.org
Just as a side note please check out their site and make a donation for a great cause. Donations and proceeds go directly to the Team Fox Charity for Parkinson’s Disease research + treatment.

I’d like to personally thank Mr Lloyd and Mr Todd for such a wonderful visit. When you think about it, the celebrity convention guests really have to put up with a lot. Between lack of sleep, crowded conventions, and jet lag it is very easy to become tired and cranky. The Guests at Vulcan Con were anything but unpleasant, a real joy to meet!
This wasn’t my first time meeting Tony Todd, and this event give me a chance to catch up with an old friend. Tony is widely know for playing the very creepy Candyman in the self titled films of the 90’s. He has done his share of many different films but those are my favorite. Please check back soon for LOP’s exclusive video interview with Mr. Todd.
This was the first time, however, I had the pleasure to meet Christopher Lloyd of which I am a longtime fan. What a wonderful person! I am pleased to say, and not at all surprised to find a very fan friendly down to earth celebrity. Mr. Lloyd has been in the industry for many years with many films under his belt including the highly popular Back to the Future series. I had a chance to speak with and pose for several photos with this great man.
At the end of the day, feet swollen and voice hoarse from talking with celebrities and fans, I was still very impressed with this event and I recommend this convention to anyone who wants a good fan-friendly experience and a place to meet the biggest stars of today and yesteryear. Go check them out at http://www.vulcanevents.com/ to find a location near you.
Until Next Time!
